Facial Trauma

Dr. Gilbert Selkin has extensive training in facial trauma which includes facial fractures and soft tissue injuries of the face and mouth.

Types of injuries include, but are not limited to:

  • Cheek Bone Fractures
  • Orbital Fractures
  • Jaw Bone Fractures
  • Nasal Fractures
  • Lacerations of the face

Treatment for such injuries may require suture placement, realignment of bones, and/or placement of surgical braces or plates to maintain alignment and restore function of the injured area.

All facial injuries are considered complex due to them being in an area of the body that is critical to breathing, eating, seeing and speaking. Facial injuries should not be treated lightly. The expertise of an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon is imperative in order to achieve the desired physical and cosmetic results.
